Special issue of the "Software Process: Improvement and Practice" journal ** CALL FOR PAPERS ** ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Organizational Change in Software Process Improvement" Over the last decade, much has been learned about the diagnosis of organizational weaknesses. For example, many experiences with software process assessments and measurement-based improvement programs have been shared within the community. However, after the diagnosis, action must be taken to implement improved project and organizational processes, which inevitably involves organizational change. Many improvement programs fail due to an inability to properly carry out organizational change. The purpose of this Special Issue of "Software Process: Improvement and Practice" is to present papers on the theory and practice of organizational change to the software process improvement community. In particular, papers are sought on the implementation of new/improved processes, process technologies, and/or process infrastructure (e.g., measurement programs, training programs, SEPG's). Topics of interest include: * managing resistance to change, * critical success factors for process improvement, * evaluating organizational change, * building buy-in for process improvement, * cultural change in software organizations, * risk analysis approaches for evaluating "readiness to change", * requirements for the envisaged processes, * incremental releases of improved processes, * integration of systems and software engineering processes, * switching over to the new process release, * cost-benefit analysis of process improvements, and * setting up process improvement teams. Papers of interest could be: * literature surveys * experience reports of implementing a particular process, process technology, and/or process infrastructure * empirical studies (e.g., surveys, longitudinal studies, field studies) Both successes and failures are encouraged.
