International Workshop on INTELLIGENT AGENTS ON THE INTERNET AND WEB Mexico City, Mexico, 16 - 20 March 1998 http://btwebsh.macarthur.uws.edu.au/iaiw/ CALL FOR PAPERS/PARTICIPATION __________________________________________________________ Intelligent Agents, a rapidly emerging new paradigm in artificial intelligence and computing, have potential to play crucial roles in the global information infrastructure facilitated by the Internet and the Web. They are set to revolutionise the way we in which we use the Internet and the Web, manage our mail, search, filter and retrieve information, do on-line shopping and get advice. They can act as smart personal assistants to diverse users of the Internet to accomplish tasks on their behalf. The Internet is an excellent platform for deploying mobile intelligent agents to collect required information from remote hosts (servers), or to do on-line shopping, on behalf of the users. Further, multiagent systems are gaining greater interest for a variety of collaborative and distributed applications on the Internet. The goal of the workshop is to assess the current status of research, development, and applications of intelligent agents on the Internet and the Web, and to pave directions for further work. By bring together researchers, software developers, service providers and users interested in this area, the workshop will provide focussed presentations and discussions on intelligent agents on the Internet and the Web, and address various issues in deploying agents on the Internet. The workshop is held in conjunction with the 4th World Congress on Expert Systems and the Internationational Symposium on Artificial Intelligence. AREAS OF COVERAGE Papers that describe work in progress, design, development and/or implementation, present research results, discuss an application, or give insights into the current state or promise of intelligent agents on the Internet are solicited. Demonstrations and video presentations are highly encouraged. Also, proposals for a panel discussion are welcome. SUBMISSION DETAILS The length of the paper must be no more than 12 single-spaced, single-column pages. The first page of the paper must include a title, author's name(s), mailing address, phone and fax numbers and email address, a list of key words and an abstract (200 words maximum). Submissions in electronic form (in Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, HTML or Postscript format) are highly encouraged. However, hard copies of the paper are also accepted.
