CALL FOR PAPERS *************** ICCI'96 8th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATION (in Cooperation IEEE Computer Society) June 19 - 22, 1996 University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ontario Canada ***************************************************************************** Steering Committee: Paul Bailes, The Univerity of Queensland, Australia Waldemar W. Koczkodaj, Laurentian University, Canada (Chair) David Krumme, Tufts University, USA ***************************************************************************** General Chair: Frank Tompa, University of Waterloo, Canada Organizing Committee Chair: Bart Domzy, Trent University, Canada Local Arrangements Chair: Farhad Mavaddat, University of Waterloo, Canada Public Relations Chair: Richard Hurley, Trent University, Canada Program Committee Chair: S.Q. Zheng, Louisiana State University, USA ****************************************************************************** ICCI'96 will be an international forum for presentation of new results in research, development, and applications in computing and information. The organizers expect both practitioners and theorists to attend. In past conferences, ICCI has attracted participants from over 40 different countries. The conference will be organized in 6 streams: Stream A: Data Theory and Logic, Information and Coding Theory Theory of Programming, Algorithms, Theory of Computation Stream B: Distributed Computing and Communications Stream C: Concurrency and Parallelism Stream D: Database Theory, Database Systems, AI Methodologies, Expert Systems, and Knowledge Engineering Stream E: Software/Data Engineering and CASE Methodology Stream F: Environmental Applications of Computer Science Authors are invited to submit five copies of their manuscript to the appropriate Stream Chair by the submission deadline. Papers should be written in English, and contain a maximum of 5000 words. Each paper should include a short abstract and a list of keywords indicating subject classification. Please note that a blind review process will be used to evaluate submitted papers. Authors' names and institutions should be identified only on a cover page that can be detached. No information that clearly identifies the authorship of the paper should be included in the body. Authors of accepted papers will be asked to prepare the final version in postscript form for publication in a Special Issue of the CD-ROM Journal of Computing and Information (JCI): an issue devoted to the Proceedings of ICCI'96. The proceedings will also be available via WWW Site and Anonymous FTP over the Internet. To vie the proceedings for ICCI94 and ICCI95, please see http://phoenix.trentu.ca/jci Also note that the Organizers of this conference advocate the use of electronic mail for communications. It makes distances between researchers in different countries small and allows them to exchange information more conveniently, rapidly, and without incurring high costs. Hard-copy mail will only be used to send letters pertaining to acceptance and in those rare cases where email communication is not available. Please insure that your email address is present, current and correct in all correspondence. UW was founded in 1957 and has grown to be among the dozen largest universities in Canada. It has a total enrolment of about 26,000 students including 16,000 full-time undergraduates. Waterloo is best known for its teaching and research in computer science and some fields of engineering, but there are high-quality programs in all major fields of study. The university is a Canadian leader in research, and prides itself on close co-operation with industry not only through the student "co-op" programme but through research contracts and technology transfer. =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= Conference-At-A-Glance ---------------------- Wednesday, June 19, 1996 1700-2000 Registration 2000-2200 Wine and Cheese Thursday, June 20, 1996 0900-1700 Registration 0900-1000 Invited Lecture 1000-1700 Paper Presentations (3 Sessions) 1730-1900 Supper 1900-2200 Social Friday, June 21, 1996 0900-1700 Registration 0900-1000 Keynote Address 1000-1700 Paper Presentations (3 Sessions) 1730-1900 Dinner Banquet 1900-2200 Social Saturday, June 22, 1996 0900-1200 Paper Presentations (3 Sessions) =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= Registration Fees ----------------- -> Postmarked Before May 15: $300 (Cdn) -> Postmarked After May 15: $340 (Cdn) -> 10% discount to IEEE/Computer Society Members -> 50% discount to students (provided there is only one author) -> Only one discount may apply -> Flat rate of $150 (Cdn) for non-authors (not presenting a paper). -> Registration Fee does include accommodations -> U.S. Exchange Rate to be determined =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= DEADLINES Jan 15, 1996 Paper submission deadline to the appropriate Stream Chair Apr 5, 1996 Email Notification of acceptance May 15, 1996 Postscript Version of Paper due to Publications Chair ========================================================================= PLEASE insure your email address is correct, current, and present. ========================================================================= For further information, please contact: Richard Hurley Public Relations Chair Computer Studies Program Trent University Peterborough, ON, Canada K9J 7B8 Phone: (705) 748-1542 Fax: (705) 748-1625 Email: rhurley@trentu.ca
